Medicated & Motivated

A Suicide Prevention Campaign like no other, a creative and active response that aids youth and adults alike, who are coping with personal tragedy or self-destructive thoughts. Utilizing spoken word, visual media and music, James Wade has created a powerful conduit through which he can connect and inspire audiences by sharing his story of personal struggle.

On February 17, 2010, his older sister Amy, committed suicide by overdosing on Anti-Depression medication and other pharmaceuticals. Leaving five children behind to be cared for, the youngest two with an unknown father, the intense grief was almost too much for JW. In the month's following his sister's self death, James Wade fought for the custody of her youngest children while the other three were split up and separated, this while also caring for his sickly mother, and raising his own daughter and newborn son.

In response to a culture known for escaping suffering through over-medication and Suicidal tendencies, James decided instead to capture his sadness through the arts and break the cycle of self-destructive patterns present in his family. He has created a master thesis: a documentary of his process of healing, showcasing others he has connected with along the way who use creative expression as a coping mechanism.

In addition to filming and editing his brilliant documentary, Mr. Wade recorded the heart touching and relevant soundtrack that is woven with images of a life shattered by suicide and loss. Utilizing his already established network in the music and film industry, he has been able to rally the support of many notable artists and filmmakers.

"Medicated" is a metaphor about pharmaceutical companies slowly killing
his family all his life, and also represents the self-medicating public overwhelmed with images of death in there communities.
"Motivated" represents the need to act now, to break cycles of suffering and intentionally develop a lifestyle that honors memory, love and creativity."

James Wade intends to bring his powerful message to colleges and high schools through presentations, dialog and performances, providing resources for those who are contemplating suicide or dealing with the pain of losing a loved one to the same fate.

The DVD will be like a Raw Report meets a Michael Moore film. It will be epic and controversial" says Wade of the project. "It's going to have my real life story, following me on my journey around the globe and to places most people cant just go. Picture Quentin Tarentino directing a Music Based DVD. That's what you're going to get, cinematic all the way, top notch music that's DIFFERENT from the commercial party records or drug music that is negatively affecting our youth."

Part 1 is dedicated to both Amy R. Edens, James Wade's sister, who committed suicide Feb. 2010 . Her photo is featured in the begining, along with a childhood photo of her and baby JW.

The lyrics are more reflective of the motivation aspect of the project, James Wade dealing with the real life responsibilities of being a father and provider, mixed with the pain of his loss and subsequent suicidal thoughts, utilizing the music and visuals as a release.

Charging himself up to go out and feed his family, we see an intimate moment of self motivation in an average person.
